Are you the right photographer for me?
My clients see the beauty in the every day, they want to preserve those moments and remember them forever, just as they are, right now. They are looking for much more than just pretty images. They want images that will tell their story. Beautiful emotive images that show their connection to each other as if the camera wasn't there. Its really important that the vision you have for your session fits with my style. If you are looking for posed, smiley images then I am probably not the right person for you.
When should I book my session?
I take on a limited number of clients each month and am often booked out months in advance and for this reason it is advisable to book your newborn session early in your pregnancy. A family session should also be booked well ahead of time to avoid missing out on your chosen date particularly if you are hoping for a weekend session.
Where do we have our session?
Newborn sessions are always held in your home. A family session can be held at a favourite location of your choice or at home. My favourite place for your session is your home as it is the place where everyone is comfortable and relaxed and we have the opportunity to capture all of the teeny details that help mesh your story together.
I don't think my house is nice enough ...
Your home is the perfect place to photograph your family. It doesn't have to be perfect. We may use areas of the house such as living room, master bedroom, and children's bedrooms or nursery. There is very little you need to do to prepare. A quick tidy round is usually all that is required to pop things out of sight that you don't want photographed. I may do a little re-arranging to make good use of the available light and a lovely composition but thats about it.
How long is our session?
Your session will take just a couple of hours but it will be so much fun you will barely notice the time. With all sessions we take our time and with newborn sessions there are plenty of opportunities for feeding and cuddles.
What should we wear?
I have no rules and believe your session should reflect you so you should wear clothing that makes you feel comfortable and happy. I would however, avoid t-shirts with big graphics or logos on them as they can be a bit distracting. Most people have a pretty good idea of what they like but if you are struggling please contact me and we can refine your style together ;)
Do you bring props etc with you?
No. No props, no beanbag, no hats, no blankets, nothing. Just me & my camera!
What if we are sick?
If any of your family are sick we will cancel the session. We will not get the most out of your session if anyone is grumpy and unwell so it is best to reschedule. If I am sick we will also reschedule as I don't want to risk passing any illness on to your little people.
What if the weather is bad?
If your session is at home it will not be affected by the weather and your session will go ahead regardless. If your session is on location outdoors we may cancel if we have rain but if it's just cold or windy we will go ahead, rug up, and make creative use of the wind!! We will be in touch on the day to determine our plan.
When will we see our images?
Your private online gallery will be ready for you to view approx 2-3 weeks after your session. You are able to share your gallery with your family and friends simply by allowing them to use your login details. Printed products are generally delivered within approx 3 weeks of your order.
Do you charge extra for weekends or travel?
Nope … There is no extra charge for sessions held on the weekends and provided that you live in Melbourne metro or surrounding suburbs (including Mornington Peninsula) there is no charge for travel.
Can we have grandparents at our session?
YES YES YES!!! It adds whole other dimension to your story and I just LOVE that!
Can we include our fur babies?
Absolutely … they are your "firstborn" after all!
